How To Write A Great Instagram Caption

Never underestimate the power of a great Instagram caption! Those 2,000 or so characters that you are granted are your place to create a little magic. The possibilities of what you can do or say in that space are endless, which may leave you feeling like you don’t know HOW to make the most of that opportunity.

Here are tips on how to write a great Instagram caption that will have your followers engaging on your posts like crazy!

Hook Them In

Think about how many times you’ve scrolled through your feed, just looking at the pictures- mainly because that little blurb of preview test you see from the caption isn’t really intriguing. You’ve probably done it thousands of times! Hook your audience in with an enticing opening line! Making this something that may spark curiosity in your audience is a great way to get people wanting to read more.

Hit the Wants AND Needs

It’s true: we don’t always know what we need, but we do know what we want! Creating content that pays to your potential clients wants and needs is going to keep them reading. To ensure that you’re hitting both areas for your followers, you can utilize polls or question boxes on stories. By asking what they want and need, you can make sure you incorporate both into your content plan (plus you’ll keep up great engagement)!

Add A Call to Action

Along the same vein, sometimes your audience needs to be told what you want them to do, as it might not be clear if left to their own devices. Add a call to action in your caption and let them know exactly what you’re looking for them to do. Some examples of this are encouraging them to leave a comment, click the link in your bio, save your post, etc.

BONUS: You can also add a secondary call to action in your caption! If you’ve already asked them to click the link in your bio but you still want them to engage with the post in some way, tack that onto the end of your caption with a “P.S.”
